I don't see a dumb Floofer!?
"Yes".@azurbanclucker you may have said it but I can't find it... what camera do you use exactly?
I like thisI have on extended loan.
Thank you. I'm looking for a new camera, and i'll look into these ones"Yes".
Most of the time I am shooting with a Nikon D7000 (which is old, the current version is the D7500). I also shoot with my Note20 Ultra (which works great for a cell cam) and recently (last month or so) with a Nikon D610 that I have on extended loan.
WHOAI started off with a Canon T7i and an EF-s 55-250 IS STM lens. It was a very good beginner setup. I then upgraded to a used Canon 80D which is very similar to a T7i but has a much better button layout, weather sealing, and autofocus micro adjustment capability. If anyone is looking for a Canon camera I would definitely recommend any of the XXD models (60D, 80D, 90D, etc.) over the rebel series. That EF-s 55-250 IS STM is one of the best budget lenses Canon makes, it is very sharp. You can pick them up used for $100.
When I bought my 80D I purchased my first high end glass, an EF 100-400 L IS II. This has been an amazing lens for wildlife. I also use a 1.4x III extender on it for extra reach.
I recently made the switch to mirrorless and bought a used Canon R5. The animal eye tracking AF system is mind blowing and I will never be able to go back to a DSLR. It quickly grabs the animals eye and stays locked on which lets me focus on other things like composition.
I preordered a Canon R7 and it's supposed to ship next week (hopefully). While it's not exactly "cheap", it is going to be the best mirrorless wildlife camera available for the money in my opinion. I just upgraded to an RF 100-500 lens two days ago and I will pair it with the R7.
I'm in the process of selling some of my gear and this is what I'm going to end up keeping...
Canon R5 (might sell eventually if I really like the R7 and get a 5 or 600 F4 lens)
Canon R7
RF 100-500 / RF 1.4x extender
EF 100-400 IS II / EF 1.4x II extender (want to eventually sell for a 5 or 600 F4)
Sigma 18-35 F1.8 art (want to sell for a full frame equivalent astro lens)
EF 50 F1.8 STM
