Canon T7i with kit lens 18-55mm
- Canon 10-18mm wide angle lens
- Canon 28-80mm macro lens
- Sigma 100-400mm zoom

Wish I had more time to really learn what my camera can do. I still feel like a newbie. Unfortunately my professional photographer sister only speaks Nikon.

I also have a Panasonic Lumix compact travel camera when I don't feel like taking the big one (or it is not a good idea).
Sounds like you might have a similar camera to one of mine. If you need help with anything, I might be able to help with the best of my ability. :p

Make sure you fully understand the rules before you enter.

Everything I entered should comply.

It's not about complying, it's about giving away full rights to your photos if they are chosen for the calendar. They say you get to keep ownership but what good is ownership if you no longer have any rights. I can understand them needing limited rights, not full rights.
From Terms and rules:
"You are granting us with a non-exclusive, permanent, irrevocable, unlimited license to use, publish, or re-publish your Content (including and not limited to posts, images, comments, articles, etc.) in connection with the Service. You retain copyright over the Content"

From the contest:
Regarding copyright & license: We are very conscientious about respecting the copyright of other peeps' work. We want to make sure we have your permission to use the photo for the calendar and for other BYC related uses. You retain ownership of your image and can continue to use it however you want. By submitting your pictures to this thread you are simply granting BYC license to use the images for BYC related purposes.

Those two statements do not say the same thing. It is a different statement than what was in place awhile back.

Thanks so much for the offer. One thing that has me confused is the use of back button focus. What is it for, how to access it and use it? Apparently on Nikon it is a simple button on the side of the camera. Canon is a little more complex.

Yep. :) Ok, I'm a little confused by your question... On the focus, you can switch from Automatic (where it will clear and focus in on what you want), or Manual (where you have to move the lense to focus and clear it yourself). If that's what you're talking about, it's in the last picture below on the lense. There's a switch that says AF (Autofocus) MF (Manual Focus). If you want to focus by hand, you slide it to MF. If you want the camera to focus for you, slide it to AF.
Hopefully that is what you was asking about. If it's not, maybe there's a button on the camera you see in the pictures below that you can point to asking me? Sorry I'm a little confused by your question.
