I am going to post what I like about each photo. I will try to keep it positive, and these are just my opinions, I am just stating what I like.... Please do not be hurt by anything I say.
#1 I really like the vertical-ness of the picture. The phone is the positioned in a unique way, with the way the picture it is set up we are not used to seeing a phone in such a different angle..looking up towards the sky.
#2 I like the color contrast between the nice green of the foliage and the dark color of the phone. I think that the brick background is slightly distracting from the picture as a whole.
#3 I love the idea of the phone sitting on the phone book. It tells a story that everyone can relate to, well at least those old enough to know what a phone book is.
If you were to crop this photo down to take out some of the clutter, I think it would have been a fantastic shot!
#4 For anyone who has had a teething child, I am sure this brings back memories.
I think I would have liked the photo more if I could have seen more of the babies mouth on the phone (facing front) with a close of up the drool and mouth and phone.
#5 I love the closeness of the picture and the irregular stacking of the phones. I would have liked being able to tell that they are phones.
#6 I love the box/background! However, I feel it is a little distracting.
#7 Great idea! I am entranced with the shadows on the top of the phone. Lovely picture.
#8 I love the simplicity of this picture. I love the lighting and the fact that this is seeing something that happens on a regular basis from a different angle. The one lit up blade of grass is distracting to me.
#9 I love this picture! I love the blueness and the contrast between the blue and the dark richness of the wood. The picture is an everyday scene, it tells a story and is very visually appealing. Great shot!
#10 I like the idea behind this picture, the different setting. The phone itself is out of focus. There are two ways I would fix this. One would be to have the phone be a background to the grasses.....by this I mean that the main focus would intentionally be on the grasses, the phone would be out of focus and the set up of the picture would be different. I am sure that is clear as mud. The second would be to retake the picture with the phone in focus.
#11 I took this picture in a hurry, I was afraid I would miss the deadline and I really wanted something in for the class. I took a few pics, my daughter was not too happy, but when I went outside I had an idea in my mind. I wanted to show a picture of a phone how we usually see it, but to show it in a different light.
Here is the original picture.
Pretty ho hum... and not what I had in mind. The colors were distracting.... So I took away the colors.
Better but still not what I wanted. So I thought maybe it is what is in the picture....so I cropped it. I took away a lot of those distractions.
The fingernail polish was still taking away from it. I wanted the phone to be what catches the eye. So I took away most of the color.
I thought that they blue metal color would look great, but I didn't count on the pink/reddish cast on the screen. So I took it all way and this is what I was left with.
What I am getting at by showing you all these steps that I took, is that sometimes a good picture is lurking in a ho hum photo, and you just have to make some changes to the original to get to it.
