pic of a bobcat on trail camera

That one came right beside my my livingroom window every morning and every evening as dusk. I knew s/he was out at night so I usually wasn't. S/He was going to the creek across the road for water and hunting in the mountains and fields. Then s/he went back to his den for the day. I never lost a bird to the cat.

Oh... my gosh!!!! keep those girls locked up...hopefully he'll figure out that his food
supply has dryed up. And yes he WAS watching you....i just read a book about
north american wildcats. they love to wait and watch.

This needs an explanation... did you see it, go inside, get your camera, come back out and take a picture of it? If so, I am amazed at your bravery. Lol.

No. I heard a ruckus at the coop and grabbed the flashlight and put my jacket on because it was cold out. Early that day I had taken some pics of the chickens outside and the camera was in the pocket of the jacket. So, I headed to the coop and had the strong feeling I was being watched, the closer to the coop I got the stronger the feeling got. So, I took the flashlight and looked all around, under the coop etc etc. but the feeling would not go away. I checked on the chickens and they were all fine locked up and I locked the door to the coop and just felt the hair on the back of my neck stand up.

So, I put the light up in the trees and there s/he was about 7 feet above me.

So, tons of things flashed through my mind like Oh great no gun with you....you cannot out run it....you are going to be mauled....you are probably going to die....oh god my husband or DD will find my body and not know what happened...about then the cat raised its head and my hand literally flew to my heart and I felt the camera. So, the little voice in my head yelled..."Take its picture at least they will find the camera and know who did it"...so I took two pictures which it was not happy about.

Then I talked to the kitty and said "I am leaving now....slowly towards the house...please be merciful and either leave me be or kill me quickly...good kitty....good kitty. And I slowly backed up to the house and collapsed on the front deck....I just sat there for 30 minutes or so when DH came outside and asked if I was alright....All I could do was turn on the camera and hand it to him. He saw the pictures and said "Did you go out there to take its danged picture?" I just sneered and say "Oh yes....I love living life dangerously dear". LMAO

When you are that close to one in the wild...tons of things go through your mind...not all of them are rational or the brightest idea but I could not outrun it and it had me anytime it chose to so....take its picture. hahahaha

......wow......I probably would have run screaming to the house, whether I had a camera or not! And I'm a guy! Mountain lions=no no for me

We have a bobcat around our house that I have seen in our neighbor's yard at 3pm! One morning it sat across the road from our driveway under a cedar tree until the bus came to pick up my boys! I haven't seen it on our property, though, and I just wonder if it is because I have a 70 lb Chesapeake Bay Retriever that, of course, leaves her 'sign' all over the place. She isn't outside all the time, though, only when someone is home. Still, my chickens free range all day long with no supervision and, so far:fl have had no losses. Sometimes they go so far I can't find them or get them to come for treats (we have 7 acres)! I know they go into the horse pasture and into the woods...I don't know why nothing has taken any of them!
Cetawin, were you in KY when you had the ML run in? I guess that means there might be ML in TN, too?

Whatever happened with the mountain lion? Did you see it again? That looks like it was a big cat, a beautiful animal indeed. Walking (not running) was a brilliant move. When I was down in Belize you could walk by the Panther and Mountain lion cages close enough that you could stick your hand/arms through. The cats looked relaxed and were just lounging or walking slowly, but the guides said that any quick movement would set them into stalk/pounce/kill mode instinctively.
