I use to think by 4, 5, 6 weeks you could pick out the roos easily. Not so sure anymore! I need help on the sex of these chicks, breeds if you can. I have 13 red sexlinks, 12 of which I'm 100% positive are pullets and I have a red sexlink roo. But i'm confused because some of the red sexlinks have bigger pink-ish combs and wattles, just as much as some of my other chicks. And...the red sexlink roo, doesn't have as much red in the comb and I'm 100% postive it's a roo. These chicks are all between 4 and 6 weeks old! I know the pictures aren't great, but I still hope you'll help me.

#1 I suspect pullet, she's petite and little to no red in comb!

#2 Don't know breed, pullet?

#3 pretty sure pullet?..this one is the runt...so tiny!

#4 Not sure on breed, the comb makes me think roo, but i'm not sure!
This one is my favorite and I keep holding out hope.

#5(leghorn cross) I suspect roo, he stands real tall and is a little more aggressive.

#6 This one is red sexlink pullet 100%, comb is large and is very pink.( Bare with me, I know the picture is bad)

#7 This is another red sexlink pullet 100% but yet again the comb is big and pinkish.

#8 Screams roo! Tell me what you think, it's a leghorn cross.

#9 Comb is very pink, what do you think..roo?(lehorn cross)

#10 I'm hoping pullet, very tiny and petite..but comb is a little pink.(leghorn cross)

#11 Another screaming roo I suspect, he's the small runt..not sure on breed either!

(I put this post in "raising chicks" and decided it would have been better here! Thank you)

Thanks so much for all your help:hu

which ones are aggressive? Or which ones do not like you touching them? The pullets have rounded feathers the roos have pointed feathers!

I think you are pretty much right on in your assumptions. The leghorns crosses - looks like 5, 8 and maybe 10 are your males. What are they mixed with? I bet they will be neat looking birds.

1, 2, 3, 7 look like possible pullets.
All the rest look rooish (some obvious roos) to me.
It would help to have pics without the red light on. Natural daylight is best.
Take one comb shot and one full body shot including legs for each bird needing sexing.
You'd get better response if you separated your post into breeds so theres not so many chicks to identify in one post.
Hope this helps

1-pullet
2-pullet,looks like an autralorp, except the yellow middle toe is often found in black sex links
3-Pullet,I thought another australorp, but does it have feathered feet?
4-Roo, not sue breed? (comb and wattles are nice a pink) very good looking love the coloring!
5-Roo
6-pullet
7-pullet
8-Roo, beautiful coloring though
9-I know it look bright, but looks like a pullet to me
10-pullet
11-probably a Roo
12-I think could be a pullet

These are all uneducated guesses... I don't have any leghorn breeds/crosses of my own!
