Pick No More Lotion by ROoster Booster

If it were my chicken, and I certainly can relate to how much you must love her, I would leave the wound uncovered and confine her to a cage. Chickens are remarkable healers if they have a caring human to keep the wound cleaned and dressed daily with a moisturizing antibiotic ointment. It needs to be kept clean and moist if it's to heal.

Do you have a friend who you can leave her with while you're away for two weeks? i wouldn't worry about re-introducing her when she's healed. The adjustment is usually a minor one and she should be able to deal with it. Your main concern right now should be giving her the care she needs to heal properly. Infection, once begun, can be awfully hard to cure, and it can kill her in a very short time. I know how heart-breaking it would be to come home and find she had died from an infected wound just as she was doing so well.

I think that is what I will do. I can take her to a friends while we are gone. Then I won't worry about her getting pecked. I don't think the tape would work considering where the wound is located. Thanks for your input.
