I would appreciate it! Yes, I'm being impatient!

Unfortunately, I don't know their ages, so I think it may be driving me a little extra crazy.

Bossy the Barred Rock

Georgia the Red Star

Mabel the Americauna (Or EE? I don't know the difference.)

Buffy the Buff Orpington (Original, I know, lol.)

And Tuffy, the Black Australorp

I have no idea when they'll lay, but my goodness, they are some mighty pretty hens.

How's that for not very helpful? So, it is the best I can do -- they're purty girls.

My BO 's name is BUffy too . She kinda looks like my gal, but my Buffy has different shaped/textured feathers.. I think she is a bantam . I would say Georgia is going to lay ANY day ... does she squat ? Or Squak ? My red star girl started squaking a few days before she layed , it sounded like a heavy smoker saying rock , rock rock .... louder and faster each time .

Georgia looks like my hens when they were younger and they started laying last week. They looked like that I would say one month ago or so. Her comb will get bigger than that and redder and will probably flop. The best indication is that they will stoop and spread their wings when you go to pet them. When they do that it is days away.

They do look very close - Bossy and Georgia have well developed combs and wattles and they've gotten very red. Have they started squatting, yet? Usually once they start that, they start laying within 2 weeks.

I have a BO named Buffy, too. haha

I think you have a while on the BO and the Australorp. Mine have combs and wattles so big and bright red that they almost look like cockerels and they just started laying this week.

I have no personal experience with the other breeds, but they sure are good looking chickies!

Thanks everyone! None of these gals have started squatting. Georgia does squat down when you pet her, but it's not the same. It's more of a squat down and try to slink away. She has always been like this. The others just run, jump or fly away like they're pretty sure you're gonna kill them! No clue why Georgia is so friendly. She follows me around the yard, lets me pick her up without resistance, and even lets the kids pet her. She really seems to like people. (She's named after Curious George.)

So it sounds like I could expect Georgia and Bossy to start in the next 1-4 wks or so. So eggciting!

I will definitely be amazed if Bossy ever does the submissive squat. She definitely lives up to her name! A very unfriendly hen....

Buffy and Tuffy do seem to be less developed. I wonder if they are younger...Is there any way to tell with Mabel? Does the comb on an Americauna or Easter Egger ever get very big?

This is Mavis, my one and only layer as of yet:

And this is Margaret (right), who I think is the same age (almost 7 mos) and still not laying:

Thanks again!

You can never guess exactly when a pullet will lay, but I'd guess yours will lay in about the order you have their pics.

Bossy and Georgia will lay first.

Then your EEer..... her comb won't get really big, but it will get redder.

I think you have a while for your BO and your BA. My girls's were getting pinker than yours at least a month before I got my first egg.
