I got a giant maran eggs from my other maran hen that is not in the picture I also got 7 eggs today I bet this one is a double yolker ! The hens free range all day and I planted: large leaf sweet basil, lime basil, Mellow Yellow bush beans, Purple queen bush beans, Roma II bush beans, Blue lake stringless pole beans, trivoro violleto pole beans, Yellow pencil pod bush beans, green bush beans, lemon cucumbers, and nastursiums. I thinned: beets, radishes, and chard. I moved: many volinteer tomatoes in the new spring crop bed and I put them in pots to grow for the rest of the season so I can test out how they do because we have never used volunteers. I also cleaned the garden shed and made the feed room section allot neater. I got allot done today and it felt good now on to the homework

Those are terrific photos, Henry!

The hens are beautiful! I wanted a couple of Delawares, but they would only had males available for a couple of months, when I made my chick order.

Your Ameraucana's are still having a difficult time? I hope they can fit in well soon.

I love your raised beds. Our berries are a ways off; they fruit between August and September.

Sometimes volunteers work out well, sometimes not. Were the ones last year heritage varieties/open pollinates, or hybrids?

That's a lot of types of beans, good for you!

Thank you for taking the time to share these; I really enjoyed looking at them.

Thanks Everyone

Tutter the tomatoes were most likely cherry or grape varaties not heritage. I am not sure about their pollination we won't depend on the we are going to plant started plants next week on mothers day . We will plant two whole beds of them one large size tomatoes and on cherry and grape tomatoes.

Thanks Max

thanks tnkinhunter

Marlin I know I can't wait next year I should have heaps of broodies.

Henry,

You've got some nice looking birds there. I only wish my berry patches and garden looked half as good as yours.

Sounds like you've had a really busy day. It feels good to do something so productive though. I spent most of the day Friday planting and transplanting. Felt nice to be tired from that kind of work.

I just looked at all the pics again. Those Delaware’s are gorgeous looking birds. The snow white is touched off by the perfect bit of color....beautiful! I might have to get a couple of them.
