Dutch is a really good guy, Ellie! He is calm and friendly and sweet and sociable, just like his dad. Now, no rooster is as cuddly-affectionate as Zane, even Hawkeye. That boy is just exceptional, but both Dutch and Zane will look me directly in the face, right in my eyes, and they both have the same soft expression that their daddy did. Zane cracked my DH up yesterday when he craned his neck up from where he was sitting in the playpen and looked me dead in the eyes. I was trying to get him to take some baby aspirin and he was being difficult about it. I said, "Zane, why are you being ornery?" He looked me straight in the eye like, Mom, I'm sick of medicine! He really communicates with his eyes just like Hawk did. I miss that big guy so much!
Dutch will come up on the deck and jump on the built-in bench when I'm doing something to see what I'm up to. Hawk never came up there at all, but Dutch will wander all over the wraparound porch.
