I looked at your link and those birds are cool. No room for more right now with both bators going full bore.... I will have to wait on that those but will keep them in mind.
Kristian,
It is a lot of eggs. If I get a great hatch, I'll be in trouble......
I'm on Day 8 today and have noted that the humidity has been 46-49% for most of it. I have tried to lower the humidity in the room with the A/C with a dehumidifier but don't want to run my electric bill through the roof..... I will candle the eggs this coming Sunday night on day 10 and see how many eggs are good at this time.....
I have hatched at a little higher humidity than most people use because of the humidity here in FL. I have not had any problems. I know that the hens can't lower the naturally occuring humidity so I just make sure that I increase the humidity to the proper level during lockdown. Good luck with your hatch!!! I am setting 36 eggs tomorrow and have sadly become quite an addict!!
I was able to candle the eggs in the King Suro 20 and am now down to 18 eggs from 24 in that bator. The others look good as far as I can tell. I cracked the bad eggs and there was no development and the eggs did not smell very bad at all. That is the bator with BLR Wyandotte, Light Sussex, Wheaton Marans, and BC Marans. Three light colored eggs were bad and three dark Marans eggs were bad.
I will try and candle the other eggs tomorrow. The other bator has lots of eggs in it. I will take a pic and post whats left in the bator when I'm done with tomorrows candleing session.....
I did a candle of the eggs in the Hovabator and found one that was bad for sure....... One I was not sure of but the rest looked good...
I may by in for a lot of chicks....
We will see how many actually hatch. Here is what I got at this time.....
Here is the coop I'm building.... I have to at least have it wired in before this coming week end when the new chicks hatch... I need the brooder for this hatch.
I woke up this morning for work and decided to lock them down. I removed them from the turner's and they are now ready to hatch. I did candle some of them and they were good. I found two more no go's. Peachicks eggs all were dark with nice air cells.
I did notice that the Hovabator incubator is running hotter now. I'm wondering if this is due to the chicks in the eggs making it hotter?????.... Sounds crazy but everything else is the same.... I have lowered the little temp bar and I hope it does not get too hot today while I'm at work...
