Derrick, what makes you think welsummer egg and not marans egg? Didn't you keep any of the marans ? ? ? ?

Math Ace,

The first hatch is 4 wks older then this threads hatch. From that first hatch I have, one Welsummer, one BLR Wyandotte, one Blue Copper Marans, and a black hen with no tail that I think may be a Marans. The egg looked just like the Welsummer eggs that hatched. I was also told that the Welsummers were the first to lay from the breeder. The Marans eggs that I set did not have those dark spots on them. This egg came from a bird that was 5 months and 1 wk old.

Nice Egg, Derrick!! Love the speckles. All I know is, my Marans is now like 30 weeks (I think, not totally sure since I didn't hatch her myself) old and still no eggs.
