There you have it.... Not all of them but some of them...

What is the chicken in the 8th picture - - gold and black hen - - right above the blue laced red wyandotte? Is it a GLW ? ?

It looks like you kept 2 blue laced red wyandottes. . . . Are they from two different people ? ?? Could you identify which bird came from which breeder.

Your BCM hen has nice coloring - - - do you know which breeder she came from ( I remember you ordered these girls from at least two different people ) ? ?

VERY NICE BIRDS - - - Would you do this all over again ? ? ? Would you try to hatch massive quantities of eggs again ? ?

Math Ace,

The 8th pic down is a roo not a hen and will need to go. When you get BLR Wyndotte eggs, you hatch out Splash, Blue and Black. That is a Black one. The hens I have are both Splash. They are very pretty and have awesome patterns and shape. I would have liked a blue but you get what you get. I also have a blue roo in the 9th pic. He will have to go as well. They are docile birds and the others are more aggressive.

All the BLR Wyandottes but one came from Buddy Henry. He can let you know who to get them from as he is now letting someone else manage the line. His line was from a very good line but I forget the name of the original. I also got one hen from Fay here on this board. That hen is 4 weeks older then the others and bigger for now but they are not all fully grown. The one from Fay is looking really nice though.

The BC Marans came from Buddy Henry. They are hands down the best looking Marans I hatched to date. The others I hatched were from Whitmore Farms. I only have the Blue Copper Marans hen from them.

I loved the process of hatching and watching them grow!! I hate waiting for them to be ready to lay eggs. I still have a month or two to wait I think. A few are 5 months old and the rest are 4 months old. I had no problem giving away the extras. The only problem I had with the mass hatching is that they got croweded in the brooder and started to pick at eachother. That was a big problem. I would do it again for sure but with a few less birds. If hatched chicks that you could sex early, like Wheaton Marans from Buddy, then I would do mass hatching no problem. I would also do his BC Marans because the roos from that line get large combs early and I could tell which were roos and which were hens faster then the Whitmore line. My son would do it again for sure...... I think the only way to get the birds you want is to do it this way unless you live right next to a breeder. I enjoyed the experience and WILL do it again when I want more birds but right now I'm maxed out with the hens I got.

Thanks for the feedback ! You had a once in a life time experience -- - - you were lucky to be able to compare different breeders birds at the same time . . . .

NOW you can qualify as an EXPERT - - Just kidding - -
Seriously, what a wonderful opportunity.

Those are wonderful looking birds! You've got my BF wanting some light Sussex now. It does seem like forever till they lay, doesn't it? I think in the spring I may try my hand at incubating. Maybe some Ameraucana and Sussex. Keep me posted on the numbers.

Thanks guys. I also can't wait till the ones that got picked at when younger start to get another batch of long feathers.

Verlaj, Joseph really likes his birds.

chics in the sun, no problem. The Light Sussex are really nice. Let me know if you want me to hatch them out for you. You don't have to wait till spring. I can incubate them if you want. Just get a box/brooder ready. I was able to take care of them by changing the paper before I left for work and when I got home from work. I would make sure they had fresh water prior to leaving for work and after getting back from work.

Derrick,

Here are a few pictures of my roo that is about the same age as any FBCM roos that you still have or kept . . . .
I'll also post a few pics of my hen. She is older than yours.
Will you post pics of your eggs when your FBCM hens start to lay ? ? ? I would be interested in finding out if they lay eggs darker or lighter than the eggs they came from.
