Thank you. Your story is wonderful, very touching. The loyalty these geese have is amazing. I would go ahead and get a female for him, I think he will know.
We introduced our 2 babies, both Africans and the two Pilgrim geese we bought off CL to our Adult Africans, they immediately accepted the two babies (they weren't so little though) and they rejected the Pilgrim.
I don't know how they knew the Pilgrims were different but they did. I guess the old saying "birds of a feather, flock together" is true.
Guess what? Lucy, the Mommy to my little miricle goose laid another egg today. She hasn't laid in oh, maybe 3 weeks. I was sure she was done. In fact I didn't know if she could lay because she seemed to have major issues after laying the other eggs.
I was coming up to the house from the feeding the chickens and there on the patio blocks is an egg. I could hardly believe it. And it was still warm and wet! I scooped it up and brought it in. I looked for cracks but can't see any (haven't had time to look well yet)
I am going to pop it in the incubator tomorrow and see what happens.
