Pics of "Before/After" Dual Purpose meat birds?

I would like to also thank everyone for the pictures and information.
booker- I think I've seen the thread with the RIR and Wyandotte Cockeral! And I know I commented on the Wyandotte roo with the huge drumsticks. But, very nice looking birds.

tartan- Got any pics of him? You'll be getting a lot of meat from that one!

mervin- no worries.

Hee hee, I like posting my chickens

I just want folks to know it is OK to eat any kind of chicken - it might not be the most perfect carcass, and it might not look just like a grocery story chicken, but they are all worth it. If you're really looking for quality, then of course it's best to get the best breeds with the best characteristics bred to them, and you'll get a nicer product. For me, it's more about being resourceful and giving an outlet to folks who don't want to process their birds - I'm not picky since I'm not paying for anything

They still taste good and make some delicious stock!

I just have to say booker81:

I spent hours on the meat birds thread yesterday, and you surely have posted a lot of learning material to BYC. I know there are many others as well, and thank you to all!!!! I could quite probably spend weeks literally on BYC and still not learn everything.

Thank you!!!!

I'll have the BCM photos up in a bit, don't worry. . . I'm still in the process of pulling some out of the freezer and using them. (we feed the big boys to the dogs as raw meat) The latest was HUGE! And still, I bet Sussex roosters get a lot bigger.

As a note, I got 10 BCM roosters for FREE. The thing is to ask around for free roosters, and you might be lucky. I got mine from a lady who had a bunch of culls. I myself breed BCM's too but don't have anything to butcher for another few months.

Okay, photos at last. This isn't all of them though, just the ones I've pulled out of the freezer so far.

These are Black Copper Marans given to me by another breeder as culls. They've got some severe to moderate defects, but provided a lot of meat for being under a year old.

One thing to think about with Black Coppers is that there are a handful of well known lines, each often having certain meat traits. For example, I find Bev Davis BC's to be much bigger and have more breast meat, while Wade Jean lines are smaller, but have very sizeable drumsticks. And I mean BIG drumsticks! - But not much breastmeat.

As a last note, I used these roosters to feed my dogs, so they're skinned, not plucked, and a they aren't market-beautiful.

As a last to add, this is an Ameraucana I culled. He was much younger and pretty small, but still had a decent amount of meat for just 6 months old.

Wish I had photos of my Araucanas - Those guys, despite their smaller size, packed some good meat on their bones!

I'll have a thread later on of all 12 Marans I culled, to show comparisons - And to compare them with hatchery Wyandottes as well as a couple purebred Ameraucanas.
