I know when my buffs were babies, I had a hard time finding some really good pictures to see what they look like and I have to tell you it's hard to take pictures of them. The drake is pointed out in the one picture, the other picture has the drake and the hen. These are about 10 weeks old, and still aren't fully mature, but you can tell the drake by his lighter bill. The hens get kind of more purple with the bill when they are younger than the drakes, and that is a good way to tell. Now I can mostly tell by looking or picking them up and hearing him squeek and the girls quack. The 3 pekins were brooded with this bunch and they are always together. I have mallards too. Never had buffs before but I love them and they are pretty and just get prettier, but it's really hard to tell with pictures. The colors blend in in pictures, but they really have more of a chisseled look.

Here is another one, I am pretty sure it's the drake again, he seems the least skittish too! You can see the coloring a lot better in this one (and that the back feathers are still growing in)

Here is another one, showing more of the girls, who probably will grow up pretty much not looking much different, though the drake will change (He is the one on the left)

Gorgeous babies everyone. I have a Crested Buff Orpington Duck and I will gladly post her picture as soon as I get out of "newbie" status. I got her on Feb. 3 of this year and she has made us laugh since day one. I got her with 3 other ducks and a handful of baby chicks. We ended up calling her "Sometimes" because sometimes she thought she was a chick, and sometimes she would realize she was actually a duck. I will post picture as soon as I am allowed!!
