Haha okay.

I showed my husband this first photo because I thought it was cute and he FLIPPED OUT. "Is that a rooster WITH A BABY!?" and I'm like yeah, isn't it cute. And he just started going, "That's not right, man! That rooster, he ain't no darn rooster!"

It was SO funny. My husband was raised on farms so he knows way more than I do so a cute photo to me was an impossible photo to him.

Now he's calling your rooster a pansy, though.

I love all of the responses!! Now I know He is a Dutch Bantam, but sorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry...he isn't a pansy. we live in a different world today. I have a daycare and in the 20 years I have been there I have seen the trend turn to where most of my little one children are brought in by daddys. I was raised in the mountains of Virginia and always had lots of chickens and never saw a rooster even look at the baby chicks. I still say he is using his head because that little chicccck is giving him body heat on a cold night. I would never have believed it myself!!

I love your photo!

I observe a lot of birds, especially shorebirds and ducks and there are daddies that brood their babies in many species and they're not pansies. I've even dads who were way better parents than the moms. There's one dad killdeer I watch who will chase down a hawk to protect his babies and then sit on the chicks a few minutes later.
