Actually there is a way that you can hatch a chick with out the egg. I have seen it done once from a shot glass type and saran wrap over the top of the glass with small holes poked threw the wrap.

I saw something similar on hatching them in a glass dish like this with the wrap over it, in the incubator. This should have been one chick developing through the 21 day period, not a bunch of cracked dead ones from each day, and hopefully the last is the result....

I can't remember how the lady separated the egg from the shell but I am pretty sure that she didn't just crack it open. Maybe she peeled it. I can try to track her down and ask her if you want. I saw the chick at about the 2 week point. It was actually amazing.
