Just wanted to share pics of my Hercules and his ladies. Today I let them out of their breeder pen. I have 17 eggs in the bator, placed yesterday. They are 1 1/2 years old and from Cackle Hatchery.

Have you hatched any of their eggs yet, or are these the first that you incubate? I've got a pair, and have yet to hatch any of their eggs. I've incubated several, but none will hatch. They're fertile, and they grow, but will not hatch. I was thinking maybe putting some under a broody hen.

They are excellent at foraging and the roo is Very protective of his girls. My oldest son can't wear his long black rubber boots with red tips because he goes nuts thinking its another roo when walking by him. They are gentle and very tame because we have babied them so much. I have had 2 try to go broody but I waited to seperate them from the other breeds. This is my first time to incubate their eggs. I am really excited to see what happens. From other posts I have seen on this breed they are supposed to make excellent mothers too. This spring I will sure let them try !

Thanks ! That is one thing about this breed, when you pick them up they are SOLID, HEAVY ! We have really enjoyed having them. A really great farm chicken/dual purpose.

I know what you mean by them being "Solid". It amazes me every time I pick one of mine up, especially after handling a game bantam or a bantam cochin.
