I decided which male I’ll keep, this guy is the most black, no barring and pencilling on the feathers, nice black head, I think he will mature into a nice darth Vader. I placed him and the red breasted ladies in a small bin to take some pics to ask the breeder which he thought was best to get more dark males. I figured why not share the pics with everyone else too. I’m interested if anyone has experience of which hens would give the best darths.

Probably the one with the most black speckles

Yes I know and it's already taking a liking to a female too but they can pick and choose it's mate if they so wish which is what I thought they are doing but if I'm wrong then my bad
Oh in that case you're correct! I thought you thought the females were males and you thought they were asking which male to keep.

Yup the male is the one that’s mostly black, I have 4 other males, but they aren’t as dark all over, or have bars and such on their feathers. The 3 speckled ones are hens, the lightest one likes the male, it seems, but I suspect that one won’t give the best darths, so I’m thinking I’ll separate him with one or 2 of the others so they don’t get any more attached to the wrong potential mates.
