I have a confirmed male/female pair of lavender Americans, about eight weeks old. The gander-boy is a couple of inches taller, heavier and has a bigger, rounder head. This is just apparent in the last couple of weeks, up until then it was no difference at all.

GORGEOUS sebs

You have 2 lovely blue smooth breasted Sebbies.
They might get more long feathers on their backs, upper thighs (I call them "chaps") and bottoms after next summer/fall molt but usually not too much change beyond that.
The males tend to have bigger beaks and feet but sometimes they wll fool you because they are so close in size.
Can't wait to get my blue girl from Christine/Banter!

Hi Cottage.
Can 2 smooth breasted breed? Or will genetics(sp?) be a problem?

Sure you can breed smooth breasted together but I think you'll only get smooth breasted offspring.
You might want to ask Christine if your goslings are siblings.
This is all new to me (colored and/or smoothie sebs) so I'm learning with the rest of you as we go along.

Thanks Cottage! THey ARE siblings.. UGH! just thought of that..

If their parents aren't closely related you probably won't have any major issues. Ideally its not a good idea to breed siblings but just think of how many people get sibling chicks, ducklings, goslings etc. from hatcheries and breed them. Happens more than you think.
