Here are some pictures of my son Sam's chickens and our chicken coop. The coop was there when we purchased the house, about 15 years ago (we think the coop is about 70 - 80 years old), and we never thought we would have chickens in it. I was using it for storage. But Sam, 10, decided a year ago that he wanted to try raising some. So, we started off with 5 and here we are now with 18 hens and loving it. He does most of the work and sells the eggs. And we are very proud of him, because he is doing such a wonderful job.

What a great boy, you must be so proud. Heck he isn't mine and I am proud of the job he is doing. Keep up the great work. And I know you have your hands full as I see that you have twins. I am a twin I was the 13th by a minute and I don't know how my Mom did it. Congrats again on doing such a great job with your boy.

How cool for a kid to not only own pets, but to be motivated and hard-working with them! Kudos to Sam, and to Sam's parents!

doesn't always mean a bad parent raised a bad kid

What really beautiful birds, and your son is obviously a fine young man for looking after them. They really look great.

I'm worried that the chickenwire enclosing the run will not deter marauding dogs and raccoons. It is not strong enough. Can you line the bottom several feet with hardware cloth? I would hate to read a few months from now that your flock is gone.

Super pics and what a great kid!! We don't have any chickens yet, but plan to soon. My step-son might come to live with us soon (we've moved out of state), and really wants to get involved in animal rearing. I can't wait to take my own pics. just like yours
