I'm too impacient to use Pigeons for meat production, i like the way my quails work (lay everyday, hatch out in 17-18 days, and are ready in 6 weeks- lil longer however I like how they lay eggs daily lol)! Howeveerrr your pigeons are beautiful and they make awesome pets! I plan to get some again when I have my own place...right now it's just quails tho.

I saw some for sale locally but they were half size all around at best maybe, than my homers. so sad as I've heard such wonderful things about texas breeds.

When you get over run with cute pigeon babies and your not a horder, you want to downsize ethically and humanly. selling even giving away bad quality is bad, and selling and giving away to most ends up a lot more horrible for birds than just popping heads off of them as sing coo and love on them.
seen were they're used for fighting dog treats, tied fireworks to, sprayed with oil and set on fire, used for target practice (by local cops), and gun dog training. just to name some. so quick painless death and eating them instead of wasting meat, and respecting animals, instead of just saying to self they'll all go to good homes, is childish.
i assumed my performance birds would naturally be culled down by preds, but turns out they as fliers too good to catch and i had too large a flock two or three times. So eating a bird raised. decent by you, much better than factory produced poultry (look it up, you won't look at a whole chicken or turkey the same way ever again).

Lol, all these pigeon pics were just making me hungry...... You dont eat the babies they are practically full grown. You realize factory raised meet chickens only live 7-8 weeks right.
