I need some nest box ideas for our new coop! Any pics help!
I built this pop-out, rear roll-away nest box from directions provided by Opa.
Here's the outside view before the coop was painted:
I also have three covered kitty litter boxes in various places. One in the Big Coop in the corner - which has been utilized by a broody hen who JUST hatched four chicks two days ago, one on the back porch when I had a couple of gals looking for places to lay eggs in the yard.... and then this one in a plastic Little Tike's playhouse coop:
Plus, the traditional wooden box "duplex" nest box, which is in my A-Frame coop. Also utilized by a broody hen earlier this year.
Thanks gryeyes, thats a cute chick BTW
After having this one for a year I have seen all too often two girls trying to squeeze into these little boxes. If I could, I would make each box at least 18" wide or better. More of them as well. It seems more is better with this one.
I like the sloped roof so they cant sit on top,
I like the little tykes playhouse with the kitty box. That is a neat idea. I might use that for breeding some of my banties.
The pics of your hen and chickie are sooooo cuuuute!
Thanks for sharing!
i lovvveeee nest box threads!
I'll post some pics when I get home this afternoon xD
here is one my hubby built for some of my younger girls. They are not old enough yet but will have them when they are. Around here we work with what we have
Mine is a bench I had laying around. Had to have something to make it look like an authentic outhouse...lol Just need to get a toilet seat.
