I built this pop-out, rear roll-away nest box from directions provided by Opa.
Here's the outside view before the coop was painted:
I also have three covered kitty litter boxes in various places. One in the Big Coop in the corner - which has been utilized by a broody hen who JUST hatched four chicks two days ago, one on the back porch when I had a couple of gals looking for places to lay eggs in the yard.... and then this one in a plastic Little Tike's playhouse coop:
Plus, the traditional wooden box "duplex" nest box, which is in my A-Frame coop. Also utilized by a broody hen earlier this year.
After having this one for a year I have seen all too often two girls trying to squeeze into these little boxes. If I could, I would make each box at least 18" wide or better. More of them as well. It seems more is better with this one.
Hi,
I like the little tykes playhouse with the kitty box. That is a neat idea. I might use that for breeding some of my banties.
The pics of your hen and chickie are sooooo cuuuute!
Thanks for sharing!
