This is the first egg from my flock.

I figure it cost me about $4000.00 including the 6' chain link around the 1/4 acre run, the coop, the brooder, the incubator, the feed, and the fertilized eggs.

Thanks to my white leghorn who was hatched on April 18, 2011.

Oh, I remember my first egg. I figure it cost me around $3K. Shhhh, don't tell DH.

But you fry that baby up in a pan and have it with toast and it will be the best egg you ever have.

I knew there was a reason I was writing down every little expense (including the package of band-aids I bought to cover all the nicks and scratches on my hands from coop building). I will know exactly how much that first scrambled egg for breakfast is gonna be worth. (At this rate I could probably have stayed in Vegas and ordered room service every morning for a week).

WTG on the egg though!
