Gotta pay attention to the birds with camera at the ready. While I was typing that message another hummingbird stopped for a drink. (Again I wasn’t fast enough)![]()
My camera is full of chicken pictures, but that’s a lot easier than a wild hummingbird.Gotta pay attention to the birds with camera at the ready.
Any slower moving object is easier than one that flits around..My camera is full of chicken pictures, but that’s a lot easier than a wild hummingbird.![]()
But, there is a hummingbird out there somewhere, laughing it’s head off, saying “Yay, I frustrated a human today !”Any slower moving object is easier than one that flits around..

This was such a bittersweet thing to learn of. I had signed off of BYC for 2 weeks as we were in Italy for my youngest daughter's wedding. That is why my thank yous to everyone seem so late.
I learned about this photo winning when I was telling a good friend of mine how I had discovered Lilly had passed away through one of the many cameras I have monitoring my coop and run. Lilly was the last survivor of these 3 hens, the Big 3 as I call them because they really cemented my love for chickens.
In this photo they are, starting on the left, Patsy, Daisy (the greatest hen ever), and Lilly on the far right. Lilly was at least 7 years old when she passed and is the longest living hen ever at Fluffy Butt Acres.
Each of these three hens served a term as Alpha hen and each ruled with very different styles. They are the anchors on which my current group of crazies established their way of living.
All are missed almost everyday by Mrs BY Bob and myself. I feel blessed that this photo was chosen and that it was so timely. Thank you all.
I feed them well I guess.Congratulations! She's huge compared to the ones I've been seeing here. Well done!
