Picture Of The Week (POW) Information & Submissions

Birds are the cutest, funniest, weirdest critters on this planet! Parrots, parakeets/budgies, cockatiels, chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, keets, peacocks, crows, hawks, sparrows, doves, pigeons, swans, and ALL wild birds -- each one a quirky personality. Had a hummingbird one year that flew to the sliding door to chirp his displeasure at me that the feeder syrup wasn't hanging up yet! He hovered over me while I hung up the fresh feeder! It was a ritual every day with the little guy

The little, wild finches have adopted me and certainly love when i feed the chickens outside the run. They sit patiently on the power line above, waiting for all hens to finish and the 3 of them come right down, not minding being bottom of the pecking order. I always wag my finger and say No No No! They fly right up to their wire roost until I turn my head again. They have been living in a small shrub near the coop wayyyyy before the hens came, so, i understand their thinking. But they certainly have learned my routines and love to be part of it all. They used to fly into the run and get all mixed up. Now they fly in with a goal and know exactly how to get out. 'Quick quick go go' they say!

Wow, she does look so similar! Mine is also an Easter Egger, named Ladybug. :D
That’s really cool, they must be the same cross. I named mine Bunny, because she is like the Easter bunny.

Aww, that's cute - Bunny and Ladybug. ❤️
Has Bunny changed color over the years? When Ladybug was a pullet she was more white with a gray beard and now, at 7 years old, she has a lot more brown in her plumage. She's also VERY talkative!

Interesting. No, not really. she is about 2 1/2 right now. When she was really little (about 2 months old) she didn’t have any gold, but other than that she has remained the same color. But she isn’t as old as Ladybug. From the picture you sent I can tell Bunny has a lot more black/gold on her back. She is very quiet😂 I hardly ever hear a peep from her.

Wow you really love posting about Ravioli, Lovely picture like always. Ravioli is such a cute little bird :wee
Thank you 🙏 ❤️ I do…she and I have a bond. She belonged to a neighbor and he was going to cull her for eating eggs, so we took her in, knowing that if she ate eggs here, we’d figure it out and not cull. We’re big believers in keeping animals for their whole lives once you make the choice to take them on. Anyways, since she was a lone hen, it took weeks and weeks of patience and sitting with her to help her get integrated. I felt so sad for her to have no friends, but it was worth going through the sad times to give her a new life. Her and I are BFFs after all that time we spent together. And she isn’t an egg eater, she just has reproductive issues and was laying soft eggs.
