Poor Dorothy sat for 5 weeks on two different sets of eggs for them to all die in the later stages. She was willing to go longer but I decided it was for her own good that she went back outside as she was skin and bone. Here she is having a lie down on the grass after all her hard work!

You are right, It is in her best interest to take a break from brooding. She needs to take some care of herself now, before she can raise her own babies.

Maybe in the future Dorothy will have better luck.

Well Baby Duck looks little behind Bella's butt. So you are pretty sure she is female. I am not sure at what age the male duck's tail start to show a curl. I certainly hope she is a girl so she can stay with the chickens.
