Picture thread of my hens!

Beautiful pics as always. Bella is my favorite I am partial to buff orphs. Lacey always makes me smile. She reminds me of a bowling ball she is so round and then she has that little head and beautiful face and don't forget she is always smiling.

Thank you so much for sharing and I'm glad you found the roo's a nice home. They deserve it.

Those ducks are so cute!! Beautiful pics as always!
Thank you both! Love my Lacey duck! :)

Your very welcome. Does Lacey let you hold her? My ducks act like I am an ax murderer if I want to hold one. I have 3 that will eat out of my hand but the rest won't come near me.

She will let me stroke her if I have mealworms, but screams if I pick her up haha

Well it's good news for my new ducks and hens. They're moving to my original hens where Bella, Lacey etc are. I had to make this decision for a number of reasons. First of all, my friend who rents the land had one of their hens attacked by the owner of the lands dog. When the hen was lying on the floor in shock all the local kids stamped on it! Don't know about anyone else but I don't want my animals around them. And then me and my friends partner started arguing with me over a chicken related problem there, but it annoyed me because they were talking to me like ****. I was really mad and instantly decided I needed to try get away from there. I even spoke to someone to be a potential new home. I decided to try my luck and go see my auntie today to get her on side to persuade my uncle to let me have them up there. I got her on side and she made him say yes! (Well actually he said whatever but that's the best you get out of him!). Me and my friends have made up, but I haven't changed my mind. Going over tomorrow to tell them as I know they won't be nasty to my face, but if I tell them through text, it may be a different story. Anyways, I plan to move them on Saturday night, maybes tomorrow night if my friends have a bad reaction. I offered to start paying my uncle rent, but don't know if he wants it or not, but I don't care, just glad that I don't have to worry about them anymore! Only bad thing is, is that I've promised no baby chicks this year which will be hard because I have loads that will go broody and deserve the chance. But hopefully one day they will get the chance.

Gorgeous pics oh my goodness that Lacey is so photogenic. I'm glad your moving your new ducks and hens to a safer place. That is horrible that they would let their kids stomp a poor injured hen. Maybe your uncle will let you hatch a few chicks later on. Good luck with the move and I hope they remain safe until you can get them settled. Thanks again for sharing your lovely birds.

Gosh John. The drama that settled on you. The fact that you're so concerned for your flock and the lengths you go to make sure they're settled and safe...you got a good soul. If my family and I lived in your part of the world and had a plot of land, we'd let you run wild and have chicks, ducks, many as you wanted.

Lets start from the other day!!:

I'm seriously on the verge of having a break down. I told my "friends" that the ducks and hens were leaving and they aren't happy. They have been texting me **** all morning, have got to get the ducks and hens gone from there today. Only problem is that my car has broke, so I was using my mams which has now broke! I used my sisters to go feed everyone this morning, but she's gone away for the day and I can't get in touch with my dad. At work at 2 until 10.15. I've been really poorly the past two days and still feel awful. Don't know how I'm gonna do this!

It isn't easy getting past his lot. Got all my new ones up there, from what they saw I could see my originals weren't happy! But new ducks and hens are locked in a shed for now.

other day:
Well the new ducks and hens have now been introduced. It's went really bad for the hens! I've basically added 5 crazy dominant hens to a flock of 17 crazy dominant hens and the outcome was not pretty. I expected a few scraps but no one is giving up in these fights so I'm having to split every one up which I've never had to do. The new ones haven't met the top hens yet, but they aren't going to be happy as the new ones have claimed the top hen shed! I've been there since 9, just quickly having some lunch then going straight back up!

Oeflay may be small but she's been the only Banty in a flock of large fowl hens for 5 years. She ain't scared of no new chicken!

New girls are settling in well. Still lots of fights when they all come face to face, but them and my originals are making effort to avoid each other. Roger likes the boss of the new girls as you can see in the first pic! Big Bertha Orp didn't care at all and went and got into her shed were the new girls all were tonight! So I hope the door timer lets them out at the crack of dawn so they don't all fight in the shed! Hopefully if they keep avoiding each other it will sort itself out in time!
