Pictures of MPC/Meyer stock?

I have 16 chickens from Meyer and I am very happy with them. They are all happy and healthy. When you are dealing with shipping live animals, you take a risk no matter where they come from. We can't control all the factors involved, so I'm sure every hatchery has good and bad experiences.

That is very true! Most hatchery stock have their issues with reproduction, longevity are not their priority because they would lose money if they include long living genes in their stock. Particuarly the breeds required HIGH egg production, like the Leghorns.

Of 8 pullets ordered from MPC last year, two have reproductive failure at just 6 months old - one just died (necropsy today) after being apparently healthy, and another already shows signs of egg yolk peritonitis. This is usually seen in older birds.

I would highly advise staying away from the hatcheries if at all possible - check out local poultry shows and drop in to your state's thread here... save yourself and your kids the heartache. There are so many wonderful breeders on here who genuinely care for the health and longevity of their birds (as well as their beauty!). If you can get your hands on an incubator, you can probably find 1-3 people on here who have hatching eggs available, can mix & match a dozen or so for you (check hatching eggs for hot2pot auctions, she has many that you listed) or could suggest where you might find chicks of those breeds in non-hatchery stock. Hatcheries have their advantages, but they are very few.

Thanks :) . However, It's hard to get a breeder with sexed day old chicks of four different breeds with a minimum of four chicks. So I think we'll stick to hatcheries for now.
Any pictures?

If you look at my page they all came from Meyer. My avitar is a silkie from Meyer. She was the best chicken I have ever had. (she was killed by a predator) I love Meyer but I always pick mine up. I have never had one die or get sick from them. Their customer service is great too! I think they are all good representations of the breed for hatchery birds. I would highly recommend!

This is a few of my pullets that I got from Meyer. Not one died and they sent me 26 girls just as I requested!

They r all still young in pics. They must reached 22 weeks and old and I found my first pullet egg!!

I just placed my order with Meyer :) They are set to be delivered Feb 28 - Mar 1, I'll post pics as soon as they get here. Oh and here is what I ordered. We did a mix since this is our first year so we can see which breed we like best, plus I like to see the different kinds.

All my 20 EE chickens are from Meyer, they hatched in Sept of 2010. All are healthy, lay very well, all but one are bearded and muffed, all lay colored (blue/green/pink) eggs. I ordered pullets and got one boy, he is beautiful and well behaved both w/ the hens and people. I have posted pics of them all over BYC, I haven't taken any new shots of them lately.

The customer service from Meyer was excellent also.

I can't figure out how to post pics from my previous uploads. I know how to post them from my computer, but I have hundreds already uploaded to BYC.

I ordered chicks from MPC last year and they arrived happy and healthy and are thriving. I've checked the websites for Meyers, MPC and Purely Poultry, and Meyers charges the most for shipping ($45) while MPC charges the least ($37) for Zone 6 delivery. Another thing I noticed about Meyers is that they don't offer Marek's vaccination for their chicks (or maybe I missed it), which is a good thing to get, and only costs $1/large bird at MPC. Bantams are not innoculated. Just wanted to let you know.
