Plus here is a funny story lol

I have been talking for years about getting chickens for eggs (he was totally against it because he said I wouldn't be able to do it all)and finally this year my dh said well if your going to get them this year you better go to the farm & home before they're gone.... I ran like a shot and got my 12 bo babies. He was all like you better not handle them you will kill them (he was raised farm boy and they had chickens for eggs and meat and they were definitely not pets... I just said well if they die they will die of being loved to death lol ( I would have died myself if they had) but they all lived Thank goodness. I had tried to prepare myself because not all usually live and this being a first time deal....

but I was on this sight researching for hours and hours.... I think he finally figured out I know what I am doing (with all you guys help anyway lol)
I think he caught my chick bug because he has been very involved in my "chicken" stuff. either with help on the coop ect or asking me if I fed watered them or checked them turned on the heat lamp at night and closed windows..ect.. I think he like them tooo or he wouldn't care enough to ask about them.....

Soo funny part he cares about my babies lol, he isn't the caring type for critters lol. And I so far have prooved I can handle it along with my humongo garden (he still says I went overboard on it )lol and he is prob right but I am going to try to keep everything in line I so want to can veggies and such. So hopefully i can keep it all up!!!!P.S.and do his mowing of the yard i love to mow but I don't trim up. and usually I get to the mowing before him so all he has to do is trim up. I am semi laid off in the summer so this is kinds my "job" gardening ect ect.

I also have my own salon in my home, and work PT catering, and my FT job is working at a college (thus they lay off for summer) I also take care of my mom who is now in the nursing home with Alzheimer. And I help friends when I can. (one of my bff's does construction with her dh and ask me if she has extra work this summer if I would be interested so I guess that can count as pt work too. sooooooo needless to say I am not a person who doesn't have 12 pans in the fire so to say lol. I am a hopelessly easily distracted person though like today I have been on here since 7 this morning hmmmm off and on now for 10 hrs .
This site is addictive!!!!

Yes...it is addicting....However. There is no other place to learn about all they have to offer.

What's cool about this site...If you question yourself when your working with them...Take a break...come in...Ck in the search box with your question or ask it yourself...Where can you get that type of service. You get several opinions at one time...It's like cross referencing..in about 30 min. or so...total...you just keep coming back.

Please post us some pics of your coop on the outside some day.... and your chicks.....Welcome to BYC....

I thought your pictures looked like the Midwest. I Googled Murrayville--you're SSW of Jacksonville. Your place looks like my backyard. I live in tiny little Longview, 22 miles SSE of (Champaign)-Urbana. Our town and surrounding fields are flat as a board, but it gets rolling a few miles away. Got soil that'll grow A N Y T H I N G!!

I can see why you want a big garden.

Your birds look like mine-RIR's, 2 months old, now. Looks like they love you, too.

Like the coop, too--very solid.

Wow, I love your coop - looks spacious. I didn't catch how many chickens you have?? That garden is awesome, how large of an area does it cover?? Must keep you quite busy between the girls and the garden!!!

I have 12 BO girls.
Not sure footage wise exactly but I would guess 100++ long and 20ish wide
and then the corn is prob that if not more
and the tomatoes and peppers and sugar snap peas are along the fence so I guess another 100 -150 ft long for it.

These are just guesses I would have to measure for sure but too lazy to do that right now lol..

Just went out and put a fan in the girls window it got pretty warm here today even though it was suppose to rain and didn't..Yet.. ahhh mother nature.

Ok been working on the run and got it close to being done(no real hurry though cant let em out much with the stupid buffalo gnats swarming all over. I got bit and am allergic so I was sickkkk

Moved the trucks in the last pict and have tilled and planted potatoes and have a spot for strawberries now. I was out tilling (DH bought me a ?rotto tiller made by Stihl? that is like a weed eater but has a tiller head? I can't handle the big tiller and have been wanting a mantis for years but he said they were a waste of money ...until.... his work started selling this Stihl brand and a coworker bought one and like it sooo... now I have one yah me) and working on new waterer with plastic oil pan instead of galv metal so I can add ACV and nesting boxes all day yest and now have a nasty sunburn(ya I know sunscreen duh)

Built the nesting boxes and cleaned the roosts off lol...
