I have been told that this mix is a black sex-link and the reason that some have brown heads and some have white is because the whites are male and the browns are female! Well, I have 4 cockerels and 3 pullets then.
The cockerels are definitely all "up in your face" personalities, and the pullets seem a bit shy. They all love meal worms though!
This is the runty one without as many feathers. Doesn't seem to be being picked on, just never had very thick down, but he's growing feathers to cover him up.
Here's some pix I uploaded tonight. They are NOT brandnew, they were taken the same day as the last ones I posted but I just never got them on the net.

Zero. There's a guy up the road a bit who hatches these, I get them from him for $2/each
I only have 4 BSL babies, and 5 adults, plus I JUST tonight got 4 new Buff Orp babies to replace the 3 BSLs that were stolen. That only gives me 13 total birds, and I already know I have 2 extra roos to eat later.
I don't have enough land to justify the cost of a bater, since I wouldn't be able to keep very many more birds on just this little lot. Maybe in the future, eh?
New Buff babies: They're only supposed to be about a week younger, but dang they sure seem small! Course my BSL's have grown a LOT in just the past week.
Three of the black sexlinks (2 roos and one pullet) are spending the night locked up in the big coop
They are in a dog crate to keep the adults from pestering them too much.
I moved the new Buff babies inside the house in a dog crate with one of the BSL pullets, because they were absolutely terrified of me and I figured it would help if they could watch me move around the house for a few days. I'm also hoping they will bond with one of the gentler blacks to kindof break up the segregation.
Pix taken tonight 11/7 of the new Buffs that I brought inside for socializing with humans and with the BSL pullet.
Pullet needs a name I guess. She is big compared, and almost seems to mother them now, lol
