I love speckled eggs. Do they change, or are they consistently speckled? Do you have a picture?

I'm so excited, I get to go look at a breeders flock of Marans this next Saturday. I am considering buying eggs.

So far she seems to be constant...

hers, of course, are the speckled...

If you want to be really really picky, then you can say that the comb should be straight without that little wave in it. But that is being VERY picky. And you miiiiiight say that the tail angle is a bit too high. Again, very picky.

She's a lovely girl!

These are 12 week olds ...
Is this, "squirrel's tail?"

And this, what is with this big ol' white feather here?

Are these both culls at this age, or do I wait it out?

The first one is a cull, but the white feather may disappear after a molt. Cross your fingers!

I have 13 that just turned 3 mos on 11-15 that weekend their eyes were greyish/greenish.......this morning I'm noticing most of the girls eyes are now turning an orangy color, not sure about the boys. I will have check and update.

Can I submit these two for critiques? (thumbnails, these are big pictures)

20 weeks old, no eggs yet. I know the roo has a crummy comb, and his chest is basically solid black - but do you think he's worth breeding?

Hen:

Roo: (forgive the yellow looking comb in this picture, it's the sun shining through. He would not pose for a profile shot! And his buddy rooster standing behind him ruining his tail definition.)
