Pictures of what goes on at egg laying time in the hen house

I think its the tractor supply shavings. A big bag cost $ 5.00 and i have only used one bag so far this summer. I put half the shavings down and then every 2 weeks i clean out under the roost and then push some more shavings under the roost. I notice when they go in the straw it stays wet...the shavings absorb it. I also hang the waterer so no water is spilled. Most of their day is spent in their run, which is all sand and very easy to keep clean.

I was just thinking the same thing about your coop as the pp! Your coop is beautifully kept and SOO clean! Very impressive, and your girls are gorgeous! I have EE/Golden comet cross 16 week old pullets and am waiting on them to lay, wondering when we might get our first egg. They mostly look like EE, but two of them look a bit golden cometish, beautiful girls though, can't wait for some blue, or pink, or green eggs!! Again, nice looking flock/coop you have there!

Thanks...I would be looking for your first egg anytime now. If you can post a picture of your girls. I would love to see them. EE's are by far the most interesting, funnest chicken there is. You just dont know what you are going to get. And each time you go out to get your colored eggs, you just cant believe how pretty those eggs are.

Thanks for sharing! Nice looking chickens and coop!
