Pig Pricesand other pig questions

To me they just look like young pigs. I have looked up pot belly and they don't look like it to me..........but then I never knew much about pigs.

Personally, I think they weren't fed much. The conditions didn't look real great. They didn't even have much cover over the pen or a place for shelter.

If they don't grow much in the next month I'll probably know.

It is important to watch them for awhile in the pen when you first bring them home, Contrary to popular belief pigs are clean animals, if the ground is wet in a certain spot that is where they will do their bussiness, and do it in the same spot everytime. just place your water and feed in a differant spot and that will keep it managable. I also plan ahead build their shelter as if they are full grown which they will be, and make a wallow for them just dig out a small area a few inches deep and fill it with water they will do the rest. I place my feeders and water troughs close to the fence so I can attend to their needs and not go in if I don't have to. you must also figure a way to get them loaded when the time comes, this will not be easy as they should be big, do not use ropes as pig's strangle easy and a USDA processor will not take a dead pig in to process. and if you prod hard or overly persuede them you can bruise the hams. with that said you have plenty of time to learn and enjoy, good luck it is fun.

No. DH says he has seen pot belly's and our's are not.

The spots are kind of like that on one but the face, ears and tails are different.

Gosh.......I hope I did the right thing.

Why else would a 4 mo. pig be so small though.

I can't sleep tonight with this on my mind. I don't know what I was thinking.

Of course a pig that age should weigh at least 100 lb. more.

High Anxiety here tonight.

I have a pure Gloucestershire old spot. She is not even 4 months old and definitely bigger than 40 lbs. I'll have to tape her tomorrow to see how big she is.

sorry, those look like pot bellied pigs to me. They get their pot belly when they are older. Notice the head vs "normal" hogs.

vs yours or the picture of "young" pot bellied pigs. these look just like yours would have 3 months ago.

If you are wanting them for meat, sorry. Get rid of them now and cut your losses.
