So Funny! I know the shock and awe of it. We have seen many things hogs can do on our farm. Do not underestimate any animal in their ability to get out, breed when you do not want it or their strength.
Hogs are very smart and are also pretty blind. If you can put up electric fencing that will help. Even if it is just around their pen. I have seen on the net where the step or push in fence poles with just a few strands on it have worked well. We have high tensil electric 5 strand so any animal we would get will hopefully be corraled. I am sure the day will come though when I will see an animal going over or under or through that fence.
You can use plywood panels approx. 3'x4' in length and approx. 1/2" thick. Round the corners slightly and cut a handhold in the center top. These can be used on each sde of the hog to direct it to where you want it to go. Also good when loading and unloading a hog. Also a dog harness can work.

1st, you must know that the closest DH got to animals before meeting me was the meat counter at the grocery store.
So, I bring home 2 young hogs with the intent to fatten and harvest. Other than a few small incidents, 6 months goes by pretty quickly.
January comes and its time to tote them off to the meat market for processing.
DH and his buddy (another non-farm boy) and myself and our two teenage sons prepare to load them onto the truck. Dh lowers the ramp into the stall and stands back expectantly. Ummm. Hello? I smiled and said 'whatcha doing?'. He replies that he is waiting for the hogs to walk up the ramp.
2 hours, a box of bandaids, blood, squeals, screams, a pitchfork (not as bad as it sounds), 10 lbs of bait (corn), and several lengths of rope, we have the hogs on the truck.
yep you need electric fencing that will keep her up . or just one hot wire around the inside of your wood lot will keep her in . ben there and and done that
When my pot belly pigs escape - because my son forgets to close the gate - we find them at our back door waiting to be fed! When my girls escape, their only desire is to find the source of their nightly feedings - ME !
