Pigeon Bulletin Board?

Ohh. Ok. That's sad. Wonder who got his pigeons? Unless it was the shotgun...
I don't think it was the shotgun. Whoever was filming him, was most likely a close friend , or family. When pigeon keeper went to the Rainbow Bridge, someone took over the property. (most likely family) They had to deal with selling those pigeons. Could have taken a lil while with those numbers. Those are Highflyers, so they rehome easily.

True. Isn't it unusual to have one color of highflyers? I thought they were pretty tough to just get a one color flock.

Selective breeding and culling the ones not to SOP is how they do it.
If that person had no problem shooting hawks, I'm sure he had no problem culling his odd birds and most likely eating them. (the pigeons, not hawks)
The group that hangs out here keeps pigeons for personal joy, and would go to all efforts to SAVE a pigeon. The size of flocks are also small.
There are others that raise their pigeons for personal food consumption. It is their choice, and I do not have a problem with that.

That is very true. I couldn't cull a bird. Your answers are very simple, yet explain everything very well :)

I'm on the far end. Sure i might save a favorite or put effort into a bird if i know she's going to live (a hen last summer showed up covered in maggot s and missing most off her skin..... She lived)

But my birds all have a job. If they can't do that job they have to go. Into the freezer or a pet home but i won't keep a useless bird. That goes to all of my animals.
