pigeon dust

some of the pigeons have also lost their mates due to hawks so will they find a new one?

since my loft is inclosed how do you think i could control the dust?
Your best strategy is defense dust mask I would suggest alone with added extra baths for your flock.

Some birds go through a greiving process hoping their mates will return eventually they will pair with another pigeon it is all a matter of time.

Any pigeon will with other dove species even if not fertile together, but this is why breeding cages set up for hens to go in with good cocks of same breeding month before sometimes.
Dust can be managed with misting to bathing with bit of vinager in them daily to weekly, as well as having an air purifier, or fan on ceiling to blow dust etc down n out ventilation on bottom (you should have ventilation on top n bottom of loft anyway). I've kept pigeons inside my house for while with asthma.. having air purifier, mist bathing, and scraping coops once to twice daily (I had coops broken into n birds killed etc), and had no problems.

You could go through the trouble of adding an exhaust fan connected to a high quality filter, but honestly I think you would be better off simply wearing a mask when going in the loft.

If you have bad breathing problems you might want to seriously consider thinking about keeping so other kind of bird than a pigeon.

Pigeons make huge amounts of dust... and you say your loft is enclosed.. which will make it 100 times worse.

Even with daily cleaning and allowing the birds to bath.. the dust comes back after a few hours!! When they breed and have squabs in the nest its also messy with dried droppings and dropped feathers.

Even just one pair of birds... you won't believe how much dust they make.

My loft is open on 3 sides. I clean it serval times a week, and only have 8 pigeons, with no nest boxes. I don't have breathing problems, but the dust still gets to me, making me sneeze.
