So, I went out fishing today, and I saw a pigeon. It landed near where I was fishing. I got a good look at it, and discovered it had two bands, one on each leg. One leg had a green band, and one leg had a yellow band. Here are some pictures.

I don't know anything about pigeons, I've never raised them, so what do the bands mean?

Just curious.

Hello there! Cool find. It is likely a homing pigeon that was lost in a training flight, or a race. It's hard to know know what the band's mean without seeing and reading them. The American Racing Pigeon Union 's 2018 bands were green, but the 2016 ones were yellow. But of course, there's other types of bands, but arpu are the most common.

if he was lost recently, he is probably friendly enough with some grain to come close enough to catch him, and find his owner. The band's if they are registered ones, you can find the owner. If you do try to catch him, good luck, and keep us posted!
