do pigs need their own house or can they all stay in like a barn or need own house during birthingHello! have my own herd of pigs at home and I love them to death! I think that Pigs are a wonderful addition to any farm! As for fences, I would say that it depends on what kind of pigs you are getting. If you are getting potbellies I would recomend around 4 feet inches tall and for standard pigs I would recomend around 5 feet. I have an electric fence for my bigger pigs and a wooden fence for my smaller pigs. I would also recomend a lot of shade. Pigs sunburn really easily so try and keep the dirt cool and or moist by keeping them in the shade with lots of mud. If you decide to raise them on concrete shade is a must. Your pigs will become very uncomfortable on the hot concrete and when your pigs become uncomfortable they can also become unbearable. If you are going to keep them near other animals they are going to be loud for a few days or even a few weeks. The other animals might be affraid for a while but they will get used to them. Hope that this helps!
