Pilgrim Geese thread

Bob and Steve seem to dodge all attacks. The car on the other hand, not so much! I'm guessing if Bob and Steve actually nipped back the boys would run for their lives! They are big chickens!
Funny boys. My geese are big chickens too they let a Muscovy drake push them around actually my drake thinks he is a Border Collie he herds them around.

That's pretty adorable, if you ask me! I would love to see your Muscovy in action! Is that the one you had indoors when he was little?
I will try hard to have my camera one of these days and make a video Opie loves to make them move and does it often during the day. Yes he is the one my dh and I had inside. I am wondering if the tables will be turned come breeding season.Last breeding season Opie wasn't in with the geese because we had 2 more drakes that liked to fight with him. He was the one being chased then.

A video of Opie would be awesome... And I love his name! I would think the tables would turn come breeding season. The geese from what I've read on here turn into completely different birds... Which us kind of sad. :(

Well it should be interesting to say the least. I'll work on getting that video.

Yep I actually enjoy my geese right now, but come breeding season oh my word. It's a good thing I can remember when they are sweet. All but Sam he thinks he has to protect no matter the season.

My pair really wasn't too bad this year during breeding season. I had them in 3 ft fencing & a box with a completely open front. I would feed & then steal eggs while they gobbled. As long as I didn't completely turn my back on the gander all was good. He would flap & hiss & come toward me slowly with his mouth open. I'd point at him, hiss back & stomp my foot toward him. He would back down & as long as I kept 1 eye on him he stayed back & just hissed. My daughter made the mistake of turning her back on him completely twice & got nipped on the butt while bent over both times...lol

I am looking forward to seeing it! I love seeing the personalities of everyone's birds. :)

I'm glad you get to enjoy your geese for awhile. Sam sounds very protective.
When did your ganders start showing signs of being protective/aggressive? Just wondering if I knew what to look for I could maybe see it coming for my two. Hopefully without having a female around they won't become the typical ganders. That's not going to stop their hormones though... What age do they become mature or hormonal?

My young gander was 9 months old before he mated with his mate.
