Pilgrims?

God Bless you too! Would you share with us what is special about the Ashbrook Strain? Are they Show winners or have other special traits that regular Pilgrims lack? I raised Pilgrims for many years and have never heard of this strain before.

To tell you the truth, I am not up to speed on Pilgrim's like I am with my other show breeds - primarily Ameraucanas, Barnevelders, and Welsummers. I haven't started showing geese yet.

The reason I would like the Ashbrook Strain is because I know the Rev. Paul Ashbrook who had them. Paul is not only a great guy personally but is both a Master Breeder and a Master Exhibitor. Not sure if those titles apply to his Pilgrims or not though. Anyways, a couple of years ago, Paul's wife developed some health issues and they decided to sell their home and move to OH to be near their children. In doing so Paul sold all his birds to the Holderread's on the condition that the "Ashbrook Strain" remain pure and separate from Dave's other birds.

I talked with Dave a year ago or so and he said he was keeping the Ashbrook Strain separate. I'll probably wind up getting some from Dave but thought I'd post the request here as a shot in the dark.

I have not personally seen any of Paul's birds but if they are anything like the chickens he had that I saw, they should be top notch!

God Bless,
