Pink Egg Project

Yes and I am relieved to say I don't have to give it up. I was already thinking about moving to my families horse ranch 3 hours away but really didn't like that idea. However thoughts change and now it is already being built. Here is the first half of the chicken runs. I still have to build 5 more runs and 2 duck yards and 2 goose yards. I know I need to get better picture of it. They are 8x16 with 4x4 coops, 2 ft no see base and pvc hoop row tops. I will get better pics and a vid soon.
That is an impressive set up! I am planning on moving back up north. How do you expect these structures to handle snow? And can you give us an idea of cost of materials??

Congrats on the new buildings! They look awesome. I am glad you don't have to give up your birds after all!

I plan to attach tarps when needed and I expect / hope they will stand up to the snow just fine.
Material costs for these 5 runs was just under $2,000. I saved money where I could by using stucco wire instead of chicken wire (to separate runs not for exterior predator proofing) and strand board instead of plywood and had a friend paint them w protective paint, not quite sure if that was cost effective though cause I had to pay him for labor and paint which was more that I expected .. .

But I still have so much more work to do .. .
Yes that is chicken (gopher) wire over the tops but I plan on having tarps over that all the time, the tarps on now are temporary. I am running two Akbash LGDs and two American Bulldogs until the Akbash are older for predator control.

I've always been a fan of this sort of setup, with the solid walls going up a couple of feet. My coop is mostly wire, but the first 2' are wood, like this. I really think it helps with a lot of the predator issues people have - racoons and such can't grab birds through the wire, and most predators can't see the birds.

I had a (foster) dog get loose in the pasture just after I'd locked the birds in, and she basically just kept running around the coop sniffing - she knew the birds were around, but couldn't seem to figure out where (and she definitely wasn't chicken-safe)
