Pink feathers on chickens?

I know that my local feedstore they chicks often have dye on a bit of their fluff...I think it's just to identify them...?

Sometimes hatchers use a spot of dye for identifying sex/breed. My ducks came with a color chart.

Makes me think of the very olden days when we tried using "Pepto Bismol," on a dog with the runs - she hated it and violently shook her head getting "pink" on the walls, us and herself. Learned from that to just use Kaopectate(white stuff) on the dogs after that. They didn't love it but, didn't go nuts when dosed with it.

My guess is that the Pink Dye is directed more toward the newer generation of poultry owners. It's all about the Bling! Bling! LOL
