Pinless Peeper/Poultry Blinders?

They do not plug the nostrils, the pins are loose fitting in the nostrils. Two of my chickens have been wearing them about a year with no ill effects.

I live in western NY. My pipes froze 5 times last year, it was so cold, and they hadn't frozen in years. It did not seem to affect the peeper wearers at all. We had 10 to 20 below zero nights many times. I do not heat my coop.

Thanks, I put the peepers back on cluck-cluck, the feather puller. I took them off in october, we had rain and she got clay packed on her nostrils and couldn't breath, but she is back to pulling feathers :(

The only place I could find for pinless peepers is eggcartons.com or Randall Burkey. They only had one size, but I was actually afraid they'd be too small for my hens as they are advertised for gamefowl, not chickens.

They work beautifully, and aren't hard to put on at all if you get a pair of snap-ring pliers (buy from a hardware store, not eggcartons.com who wants to charge you an arm and a leg for them).

I just wanted to add, I just ordered some of the pinless Ps and they do have game bird ones now:)

OH THANKS SO MUCH FOR THIS THREAD! I read all of this, as one of our little darlings is starting to peck, and I bought the pinless peepers from egg cartons.com as suggested.

I also watched a great You Tube piece with such kind men actually putting the pinless peepers on, and then showing you how their chickens reacted and checking to see if they could free range okay. And they showed the results later in taking them off - sweet video:

But I've done some further reading and it seems that TOYS should be the first plan of attack, and may be the real answers instead of pinless peepers. Oh my lucky stars, this article is not only so creative and exciting, but read the responses as well because people are endlessly inventive!!!

This is great. Thank you so much for this website. (I try to help my daughter with my 5 beautiful heirloom grandchicklets).
