The egg is great so far. Has begun to enlarge the hole and happily peeps. However I now have two eggs with bruises and I was trying to read up on it but I lost the thread.
Wrong end can be tricky
I had one make the bruise and hours later was dead as it couldn’t break the shell
Now if I see the bruise outside of the air cell I make a tiny pin hole in the middle and leave it alone for 24 hours
Then I’ll check to see if there is more bruising my one I helped did make a second bruise up from the first so I made a small hole and left it again as it could breath. This baby took 52 hours to hatch. When they miss the air cell the time changes you count the external as both internal (24) and external (24- 48) hours
I had a school hatch some of my eggs and we had one that ended up with 2 air cells as well. It wasn’t there when started but it blocked his growth area and he couldn’t get out of the egg. I had ti assist him and unfortunately he was born with a v shape in his neck bone. I did all I could to help him including a neck / back dr Who did manage to get his back to neck to straighten and his crop to fall centre As it was to the right of his neck but the neck bone itself wouldn’t straighten
Vet bills at 700 and at 4 weeks I had to make the hard choice As quality of life was not there. He loved every moment as he tried so hard. He was very alert and eating , drinking , loved to be held but he was not able to do anything without me helping him including swim , preen , eat , drink , stand , walk ect
He was my little sidekick
Sorry for the late response, been busy with the ducklings. Yes 9 was that one. 13, now named Lucky, almost had the same fate. Blow for blow exact same, pipped at wrong end and had a second air cell. But with 13 I knew to look. Lucky hatched in my hands. We have had a bunch pip at the wrong end but most did just fine. Including a crested yellow duckling of some sort.
