Well, I'm beat! Since the weather's so nice here this weekend, I've started moving some fencing and posts around. The plan is to shrink the main flock's yard from roughly 50x100 to closer to 50x50 so that I can more easily net over it. They've been fenced off from the back of their yard for most of a year now, I think, to keep them safe from hawks anyway, so rather than keeping that section fenced off entirely, like when they're free-ranging, it's now open. The extra fence will either go toward the second run on the Cochin coop (which I've decided to build rather than buy as I can build something much more sturdy than I can buy) or I'll just run it along the road at a distance to keep them from bypassing the old and worn out road fencing and getting hit or something. Anyway, I got all the posts put in for the new edge of the yard, just gotta finish attaching fence to them tomorrow. The posts ended up kind of zig-zaggy because I eyeballed it, but I don't think the chickens will mind.
Looking at Jack's foot, it actually looks like he's going to make a full recovery! It does look a tiny bit puffier than his other foot, but the fluid buildup he had gotten a few days ago has gone away and there doesn't appear to be any peeling or necrotic tissue so far. It is still a bit more tender than the other foot, as he reacted a bit more strongly when I bent his toes than he did with the other foot, but seems to be recovering fine!
@Crazy Maizie how are the newbies doing? Any new shenanigans from Mr. Rooster?
