Looks like I have one for sure blue. Just have to mention that Dusty did not look like he would be blue as a chick.

Good afternoon. Welp, just realized my Ginger is not a bb oegb like I thought. I though I kept a pair. But, when I look at her and my new one, she has barring on her back. So, I think that makes her crele? I will take a Pic of them both later.
I'm calling the new one Mango. At least it will be easier to tell them apart now.
Ginger and Rebel paired up from the beginning so I really couldn't have separated them anyway.

Yeah, well she's going to stay in her broody breaker all day. Maybe this cool weather will help.

My family irritates me and it's just myself and my husband. The vanilla cocoa sounds devine. Hope you are able to get back to making soap when you can.

I believe White in OEGBs is by the recessive white gene, so maybe it floats around in other varieties like it does with some other breeds and you've got yourself a White?

Good afternoon. Welp, just realized my Ginger is not a bb oegb like I thought. I though I kept a pair. But, when I look at her and my new one, she has barring on her back. So, I think that makes her crele? I will take a Pic of them both later.

Ginger and Rebel paired up from the beginning so I really couldn't have separated them anyway.

I think I remember Ginger looking like a Crele as a chick, so that makes sense! Since hens can only have one copy of the barring gene at most and the gene seems to more strongly impact undiluted black pigment than it does with dilutions or red pigments, it can be hard to see the barring on females of barred duckwing varieties like Crele.

Mango is an adorable name, by the way! It's always nice to have a visual cue to tell your birds apart! The friend of mine that named Ivy was asking about her the other day and it took me an age to find Ivy among the other Cochin hens to get a picture of her to share! Good thing I put an extra leg band on her to distinguish her or else I'd have lost her in the crowd!!

Speaking of said friend, she and my other friend and I had a nice, long chat this past weekend, long overdue as we hadn't been able to catch up in a long time, and they sort of reminded me of how much passion I had had for my birds when we first met... and how much I've kind of lost over the past few years to mental health battles and other distractions. One of the things she mentioned was pictures. I just haven't been taking many of them lately, particularly of the birds, and it stings to think back on some of the birds I've lost in that time that I have hardly any recent pictures of to reminisce over.

I cannot guarantee I'll keep up with this, especially come autumn when the semester starts up and I'll be neck deep in sorting chickens for winter and schooling and everything else, but I'd like to try to challenge myself at least over the summer to take a picture (or pictures) of some of my birds every day just to share, to keep up with the flock, and to be able to look back on later.

So here's day one from early this morning, Wyatt and Georgia having breakfast. Georgie turned her head, of course, and the perspective of the picture with the feed jug sitting back a ways makes Wyatt look like a giant, but, eh, it's a start.

Yes, I remember that as well about you thinking I had a female crele. For some reason, I just figured she was a bb. But, then I really noticed her barring today because I was trying to make sure I didn't mix her up with the new one. I try to focus on something distinguisable. I don't think I would have ever given it a thought without getting Mango.
And, don't ever look at their comb for a difference, because one little bit of frostbite can change that. my barred Rocks have taught me that. Lol

Here is the funniest thing - I have been thinking about my white silkie's name and I've been throwing around the name Ivy! But also Poppy and then today I thought Juniper might be a good one.

Haha, all great names! I've had a Poppy in the past as well

You know what else, this just kind of hit me. When I finished coming up with names for last year's hatches a month or two ago, I named one of the girls in Wyatt's flock Maisie and it took me until just now to connect why that name was probably floating around in my brain
