Pipd's Peeps!

Beryl is incoming for me Sunday.

I spent most the day getting the one pen with the babies/ grow outs ready. Added another 20 bags of pea gravel to it, started the coccidia treatment and set up more roost bars.

As I was doing this I'm pretty sure it was a combination of heat and coccidia that killed the one I found. There are a few that are now actually showing the signs. Those that where lethargic and ruffled I made drink. I also put a pan out with wet crumble and they all ate. Will be checking early morning and if I still have some that are ruffled and lethargic I'll get them some yoke and poultry cell. It's helping the few that are like this in the outside brooder box.

Stay safe in the storm! Hopefully the meds kick in soon so your babies start feeling better! I've had them look like they were on death's doorstep with coccidiosis for a day or two while being treated the whole time, and then suddenly pop out of it one day, so I'm hoping the same goes for your babies as well :fl Having started it ahead of the major symptoms like you'd mentioned doing should help them get through it as well.

Day 27's picture! Don't be fooled by Juniper's innocent appearance, here, she was parked right in the doorway of the deck so that the little ones were terrified to enter or exit past her.

I hope Beryl doesn't cause any damage in your area, stay safe!

Sounds like Ursula! Looks innocent, but can be heard across all the continents, and hates nesting material, so nests are not a thing in their pen. All the girls had to find nests high up where she can't reach

Also loves to get soaking wet (she's silkied). I wonder how many braincells she has...

Yay, that's good!! How are they doing this morning with the storm? :fl

Goodness, Ursula sounds like a character! 🤭 Is that why Cruella had to nest and hatch her babies way up on that wall?? :th

To be completely fair to Juni, she really is a gentle girl, she's just bigger than, and therefore quite intimidating to, the little ones. I'm not honestly sure why she chose to sit in the doorway and cause a roadblock for them yesterday. 🤔 But she never once pecked at them or anything as they darted by!
