hello all,
i am treating my hens for worms right now and i just wormed them yesterday with piperazine...i oz per gallon of water...for them to drink until it is gone. i have down that and did some looking on the internet....a lot of sources say to repeat teeatment in 7-10 days....is that what you normally do? also how muych water with piperaine in it should i give to a bird that is ill and doesnt want to drink? i am making her drink with a syringe but i am not sure how much i should make her drink to get the proper dosage .
i plan on cleaning out the run and coop this weekend after all the worning is done also.
thanks for the help.

diana..i have syringes that has ml on them. they are rather small..i do have one bigger......thank you for that info but it confuses me a little...could you let me know what that dosage meant in terms of something i can measure? i put an ounce of the piperazine in a gallon of water so far. that water is pretty much gone. i gave red at least 5 cc....i porobably gave her4 or 5 syringes full yesterday...the syringe contains 3 cc total.

The bottle directions says 1oz per gallon, and to let them drink for 1 day. One hen will average 16 oz of water per day. So she would need to drink at least 16 oz's in a days time for it to be effective, So far she's consuming no where near that.
She needs to consume 3.5 ml of piperazine, I would mix this with 1 oz of water to allow ample gut coverage..But giving wormer to an already sick bird could do more harm than the actual worms.
